Komori assignment: machine transport and industrial relocation

For machine manufacturer Komori Europe we are a permanent installation partner for machine placements throughout Europe. Komori has a leading position in the printing industry as a printing press manufacturer. For one of their clients, SMG Group, we provided both machine transport and industrial relocation.

Constant production process

SMG Group in Hasselt, Komori's customer, has an almost constantly running printing facility. Therefore, the installation of a new machine had to be done without stopping production. So in this case it was very important that everything was properly coordinated and that production could continue to run. We placed 2 Komori 840P machines in the printing house of SMG Group. Earlier this year, SMG Group suffered a major fire, after which production had to be restarted in a short time. Thanks to fast organization, we were able to place these 2 large printing presses indoors on a plinth in a very short time.

Special lift system

With the help of our Enerpac SL 60 lift system, we built up the printing towers neatly and lifted the machine onto a plinth. In 2x 5 days we placed the production line in the correct position and brought it in. Thanks to good teamwork with Komori's engineers, the customer was able to obtain a great production line in a short time.

Step-by-step and project-based process

First of all, our planning agreed with the customer when the machine was to be installed. The planner then drew up a work and loading schedule.

We loaded the machine parts directly from our storage in Apeldoorn, so that we could deliver them to the customer by trailer at the right time. There the lift system was ready and all printing towers were unloaded with our loader crane. The towers were then brought in on special transport rollers with an electric forklift. Finally, each part was placed on the plinth, or elevation, and neatly linked to the other towers. Our versatile team worked step by step and project-based on installing the production line.

Naturally, the plastic, wooden and other packaging was immediately removed and sorted. This was neatly recycled into new raw materials by our recycling partner. The printing presses contained 8 printing towers, weighed tens of thousands of kilograms and were transported in approximately 5 trailers per machine.

Result

In the end, a completely new production line was ready in a short time. SMG Group is very pleased with the cooperation, the proactive approach and the expertise of our colleagues.

Partnership of 30 years

Our partnership with Komori has continued for over 30 years now. Due to good coordination, we invest in special equipment for the Komori machines. Because of the passion our employees have for the graphics sector, our cooperation has grown into the partnership we have today.
